Coinz Application

Coinz enables your customers to buy, hold and sell digital assets through Coinz within your existing platform. Includes a carefully selected choice of digital currencies, custodial digital asset wallets and exchange service. As the sole designer I was trusted to take this idea from a thought all the way to a complete, finished working product. From research, branding and UI design, everything showcased below was designed single handily by myself.

Research

Entering a highly saturated and competitive crypto market, Coinz faced the critical challenge of differentiating itself from well-established platforms that already offered robust fiat-to-crypto exchange capabilities. Simply replicating existing features was not enough — the product needed to deliver a superior user experience, address real pain points, and build trust in an industry often hindered by complexity, volatility, and user skepticism.

Additionally, Coinz had to overcome:

  • User onboarding friction, especially for those new to crypto

  • Perceived security and compliance concerns

  • Lack of emotional connection with existing platforms

  • Design fatigue from visually overwhelming and technically dense interfaces common in crypto apps

The true challenge was not just to build another crypto app — it was to create a product that users genuinely prefer, trust, and enjoy using daily.

To ensure Coinz was designed around real user needs and market gaps, a comprehensive research strategy was employed across three key phases:

Market & Competitor Analysis
  • Benchmarked top-performing crypto apps (e.g., Coinbase, Binance, Crypto.com) to understand their core features, UX/UI patterns, and customer feedback.

  • Identified strengths and weaknesses in their fiat-to-crypto exchange flows.

  • Analyzed app store reviews and user ratings to surface common complaints and unmet needs.

User Research
  • Conducted qualitative interviews with both novice and experienced crypto users to gather insights on pain points, motivations, and expectations.

  • Ran usability tests on competitor platforms to observe friction points in real time.

  • Deployed surveys targeting different user personas (investors, casual traders, first-time users) to validate assumptions and prioritize features.

Industry & Behavioral Insights
  • Reviewed industry reports and behavioral studies on crypto adoption, digital finance habits, and mobile app usage.

  • Monitored trending technologies and UX best practices to ensure Coinz stayed ahead of the curve.

This research formed the foundation of Coinz’s design and development decisions — ensuring every feature, interaction, and visual element was backed by real data, not assumptions. It also helped us define a clear unique value proposition: a frictionless, visually appealing, and trustworthy crypto experience built for everyday users.

Design System

The UI for Coinz was crafted with a clear focus on usability, clarity, and visual appeal, ensuring the interface would stand out in a cluttered crypto market while remaining highly functional and intuitive.

Design Principles & Goals

We established a set of core UI goals:

  • User-centric design: Prioritize ease of use for both beginners and seasoned traders.

  • Visual trust: Use clean, modern aesthetics to build credibility and reduce user anxiety around crypto transactions.

  • Seamless navigation: Ensure users could complete key tasks (e.g., fiat-to-crypto exchange) in just a few intuitive steps.

Wireframing & User Flows
  • Created low-fidelity wireframes to map out core user journeys, from onboarding to completing a transaction.

  • Focused on minimizing friction by streamlining complex flows — especially the fiat-to-crypto conversion process.

  • Iterated on user flows based on feedback from initial test users.

High-Fidelity UI Design
  • Designed a modern, clean interface using a consistent design system (grids, colors, typography, iconography).

  • Incorporated micro-interactions and animations to enhance usability without overwhelming the user.

  • Used color and visual cues to guide users through processes (e.g., green for success, soft red for warnings, gradients for momentum).

Accessibility & Responsiveness
  • Ensured the UI met accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), including high-contrast modes and large touch targets.

  • Designed responsive layouts optimized for various devices, from smartphones to tablets.

Prototyping & Testing
  • Built interactive prototypes in Figma to simulate real user interactions.

  • Conducted usability testing sessions with users to validate navigation, layout clarity, and visual appeal.

The final UI design for Coinz successfully balanced form and function, offering a visually compelling and highly intuitive experience that helped users feel confident and in control while navigating the crypto world.
